Chef Blythe Beck

So if you do all not know of Chef Blythe Beck where have you been? This young and upcoming rock star chef is know for her Sexy New American Cuisine. Based out of Dallas, TX she is the Executive Chef for Central 214 in the Hotel Palomar. She has a passion for what she does and with her attitude of positive pink thinking she is on her way to being at the very top. She was the star of The Naughty Kitchen which first season aired on the Oxygen Network.

Blythe is constantly reaching out to her fan base known as the Naughty Army to help inspire them and motivate them to find their passions. I personally am a fan of this Naughty Chef and was lucky enough to receive a phone call from Blythe yesterday on what is know as the Fired-Up Friday Call to the Naughty Army. The conversation was short, sweet, naughty and unexpected as Blythe calls a random fired up member of the Army to surprise to them.

Blythe's passion is to have a Total World Culinary Domination (TWCD) and bringing the sexy back into the foods we all grew up with. Her fan base is full of pink positive thinkers that know Blythe is well on her way to the top and willing to help her achieve the pinnacle of her passion which is the TWCD.

She is so unique to me as a celebrity by the fact that she is really communicating with her fan base not just blasting out tweets. Whether it is by her Facebook page, Twitter, phone calls or in person at the restaurant she is most approachable and so friendly as if being an Executive Chef is not a demanding enough job.

I cannot wait to make a trip back home to Oklahoma where I will be taking a detour down to Central 214 to stop in and enjoy some of the chefs great food. The thing that looks most appealing to me is the chicken fried Kobe steak served with slow braised mustard greens, butter whipped potatoes, and bacon-red eye gravy. yum!

So next time you are in Dallas please stop in meet Blythe and enjoy some fantastically Naughty Food!

Christmas from the Latino Point of View

So as we are now officially on the down hill slide towards Christmas I thought I would share some Holiday traditions, facts, and fun from the Hispanic point of view. First thing that I will share is a little short Christmas fact. The Poinsettia plant in nature is a wild leggy shrub and is actually native to Mexico and flourished in Southern Mexico. It is there where the Aztec Indians actually extracted dyes from the plant to help color textiles and even makeup. They even used the milky white sap to help cure fevers.

This flowered traveled to the US in 1829 by the first U.S. Minister to Mexico Joel R. Poinsettia. A century later a farmer in Los Angles, Paul Ecke, whose family was the first to grow the plant and sell them in their now standard form as a potted flower.


I know personally I do enjoy having the bright red vibrant flowers around my house during the holidays. Its just something that is a tradition for my house thanks to my mom. Now, after writing this blog I see and am glad to share its a winter tradition to use this colorful flower for many centuries!


The plant now seems to pop up in any tropical climate! The picture in this post is a wild Poinsettia in Hawaii. I can't wait to go out to find me some Poinsettias for my house. Its really just not Christmas without them.

So, I had all this blog written out and I started reading it and it was all over the place. :)

I have saved it and will post it up later after I can understand what I am trying to communicate.

Just a few hours until the day of Thanksgiving. I am so thankful so many things in my life including my relationship that I have with God, my family, and my friends.

The holiday season is now in full swing and I am so not ready for this. A short yet very busy work week plus several things still up in the air. Are the Holidays ever simple for anyone? Does it ever fall into place without the obstacles? My thought is probably not. Well, that is unless you are someone with loads of money and a small family.

One of these days this Latino will be happy just to pack up the family members and do a family vacation for the holidays. /End Dream

Back to the cold reality that bills are due, people want so much for you, and its your job to get it all taken care of with a smile. After all we are all professionals right?

I know things will get better I just have to be faithful to do what I need to do. God will take care of the rest.

So, I thought I would share a quick picture of this fine river city that I am now apart of. It has many quirks and such uniqueness to it I really don't know where to begin. The demographics of this area are much like the city they make up that is to say as different as every shade of the rainbow. I have literally been bowled over by the different amounts of ethnicity in this city and still racism but that's another story. This city so far has had a good impression upon me and has made me fan. It seems that this city is on its way to continue grow, expand, and to make a good name for itself as it has for a long time.

For those of you that are wondering...Louisville, KY... What is there?Why does it sound familiar? I will share... it is the home of the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum, Churchill Downs which plays host to the Kentucky Derby, the Muhammad Ali Museum as well as many other attractions.

Enjoy the ride as we venture out to learn more about this community and my findings of it. Who knows maybe as time passes on I will get to journey to more lands. Doubtful but you never know.

New Blog

So this is a new blog for me to document the life of a single late 20s Latino that has been transplanted from the Southwest to the Midwest. I hope you enjoy the journey as we travel together on this ride we call the interwebz. Discussions/Rants on anything from the politics, racism, culture differences, religious differences, and life in general.

I will say I have loads of things to share and I hope that you all provide me with some feed back and support.
